Pissed Off Chibi Black Rock Shooter- My Fan Comics
I really should post more art related stuff here, so here goes-
Not so long ago I started my little fan series POCBRS or Pissed Off Chibi Black Rock Shooter. The idea was born when I was drawing BRS on Deviantarts FANTASTIC drawing board MURO until it fricking CRASHED on me, eternally KILLING my lovely drawing of BRS. I cursed muro and gave birth to an angry chibi BRS. That folks, is POCBRS. Posted on my Deviant art, Figure.fm, and my own branch site- http://www.pocbrs.weebly.com where you may read the archieves of all the strips and art, for free. yes.
SO GO READ. k thnx bye!

I MADE IT IN TO COMIKET AGAIN.

Application for Comiket 79
All right, so...The darn application deadline for Winter Comiket 2010 or Comiket 79 was just a few...in fact a day after frickin Comiket. I had to help out a friend apply as well so...I had a ton of stuff to do with little time.
So I thought- what the heck, I'm gonna go learn how to apply online. I jumped to circle.ms, checked out the application pages and followed the instructions.
SUPER EASY. It totally beats filling out 6 sheets of paper full of info (you just practically fill out 1 form for online registration.) Paying by credit card was also amazingly easy, and best of all: I was able to submit my circle cut DIGITALLY!!!! I added shade and stuff to my circle cut.
So yes, I am applied for Comic Market 79. Results should be in within ....the next few months. Until then, I better keep on working on my arts :3
These are the application packets I got at comiket.
These are still a requirement, because these are what provide you with
both the application code and online application code.

My Circle cut is Marisa!!I am going with Touhou again.
However in addition, I plan to do something else also.
Maybe Vocaloid or Black Rock Shooter stuff.

Applied for Comiket 78
Whew, With a little less than two weeks in advanced I sent my application for Summer Comiket 78 This morning. This is my circle cut you'll see if I make it-
Well Doujin and suff are good and all,
I've still been working on commissions and freelance jobs.
I'm still looking for ways to break into the industry, I found a
Seminar that'll be going on by rakujob.com
They're a company/group that specializes in helping people get into creative jobs.
That'll be held on the 31st, all day I'll be going and seeing if I get some good information out of it (the entrance fee is 50 bucks, but they say if you dont benefit from it you can get a full refund, though I know it'll be beneficial for me.)
Well thats what I have coming up, Comiket results come in on April so I can forget about until then (that gives me four months to prepare something if I make it in again)
thats all for now, cya!

Pixiv app on iTouch/iPhone
Pixiv released a cool iPhone app for it's site! There's a free one to use pixiv and one called PivixL (short for Pixiv life, has some additional fun features. I didn't get it though).
Anyways it's pretty cool you can use it immediately and without having to log in. You can log in of course and view your illustrations, favorites, watchers, friends and such. It's easy to browse through new postings and daily rankings and such with thumbnail viewing. Overall it seems like a pretty cool app for those that use pixiv.

:/ ....might never find out
...so yeah
I really don't know what went wrong, but nothings been delivered to me from the Comiket Volunteer Committee.. No postcard, no results package. Appearantly if I didnt recieve the postcard I was to send a notification within ten days or forget about it.
-_-
Still trying though. You must be bored to hell with this stuff unless you have plans to go...
I swear though, next time: Online Registration. And I'll make sure to stay in Japan til I get everything settled.
sigh. Well I guess I can go back to blogging normally. Maybe news will pop up.
Thus ends the tale of a small circle that never was.
I need to find better friends/associates to help me with this registration crap.
My relatives and such were not much help at all. Geeze.
On a brighter note, I can start playing Pokemon Heart Gold again soon. I just stopped playing for a while...just cause. Also we ordered Silver for my brother so we can play together.
Also been playing Need For Speed Underground 2 for Gamecube on the wii. Something made me go out and by Need for Speed Carbon for the wii. Pretty cool game, territory nabbing by winning races. Also has police chases (lota fun) and this crew member system. yeah I know OLD GAME, but new for me cause I just bought it. It was actually still 30 bucks used. What I really wanted was Need For Speed Most Wanted for GC, but unfortunately GAMESTOP had rid of their Gamecube section entirely leaving me no option but to find it online in the future if I still want it.
But yeah. o_-
Still working on the freelance project.
And the Touhou books I might not get to sell at Winter comiket. Sigh. ANyways.
here's a picture of Youmu I drew to break this wall of text:

Anyways, I'll be going down to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow to hang out with my friend who'll most likely be graduating from AIFL this quarter.
...Besides that I dont have much to inspire me anymore.
:/
I've been using that emote alot. it's pretty much describes how I feel now.
The weathers gotten nice and a tad bit cooler here in Florida, but might just be the effects of Hurricane...Ida? was it? passing by going up the gulf. No storm here, just lots of wind.
boring.
:/
k the end, cya next time~

Infinite Bits Gaming Convention and catching up on Manga
:) ...results of Infinite bits-
It sure was a convention focused on videogames, lots of videogame vendors, lots of games lined up to play, even a area with arcade machines and a Videogame museum with a bunch of historical concoles to games of today.
But not really the greatest for the artist alley :/ It was a bit like Mizucon one where the alley was in this isolated corner where hardly anyone came by. I did.... mmm okay I guess. Not great though. Plus the tables next to me didnt appear all weekend, and a bunch of empty tables do hurt the atmosphere. Meet some old familiar folks along with new people as well. It was at the same place Florida Supercon was last time so getting there was super easy (printed some [wrong] directions but only used them once)
...man I'm tired. just tired -_-"
Well I think I can focus on November, no cons or anything to distract me.
By the way, sounds like Comiket results will be in soon, I need to get the postcard sent to me (in Japan) and find out the number to see the results hope I can get to that soon.
...I've caught up reading BLEACH and NARUTO.
...They're both pretty awesome now that I've caught up.
I haven't read Naruto in forever, I stopped before Sasuke VS Itachi.
That battle and backstory was insane.
...>> got all emotional reading Naruto T_T but come to think of it, it has happened before.
Bleach is pretty sick awesome. It's too bad they went into the dumb fillers again for the anime (saw some when I went to Japan).
I'm happy Shonen Jump is a weekly magazine after a month or so there'll be a good amount to read again.
Still FOllowing FMA too of course. DokiDOki <3

Kxela Survived Comiket Report (part b)
Comiket 76 day 3, August 16:
Ahhh so this day I only had one table to see in mind so I took it easy and got to comiket at 7:00.
The wait to get in wasn`t so bad, we were placed on a sidewalk with shade. The final line up to get in was painful though, 15 minutes in the sun and then 5 to get in.
I really had to use the bathroom, so the crowd sorta forced my direction, I ended up going to the commercial booths first. I then found out that you can pretty much go to anyt booth on the third day and get what you want before having to wait in line-
I was able to go to these tables: Leaf, Cospa, Good Smile Company and a couple other animation studios or goods companies.
At Good Smile company all the FumoFumo characters were sold out but I got my hands on this:

Comiket 76 release Nendoroid Hakurei Reimu! XD
I also got:

Leaf`s goods set (mainly for the bag cause I foolishly didnt bring my backpack)
and

K-on! Tote from Cospa~ I used it that day to carry my stuff
Well After wards I went to the west halls to see the table I wanted to see-

A22b- thats RYUSUKE HAMAMOTO`s table. Unfortunately both times I went, the artist himself wasn`t there. But I did get his books:

I also got books from:

RANGE MURATA

and WHITEPAPER
and a bunch of other amazing artists:

I was able to get a sketch again today~

Thats the awesome thing about Comiket: you buy the comics/books directly from the artists and you even have a chance to get original art from them as a gift ^^
...although some tables are super busy (like popular ones) or some just aren`t ready to do sketches (ie they didnt bring materials to do so). I tried three tables today I think, the last one had a eraser by her so I figured she had her drawing stuff with her. Looks like she does original comics, the one I bought was super cute ^//^
...
well that pretty much wraps up my report.
here`s a semi-decent picture of me failing to get the big sight building in the snapshot of myself (its that thing in the middle right hand side) as proof I went there:

by the way Touhou Hisoutensoku is frickin awesome.
GO Sanae, Chirno, Chuugoku!
Theres a fair amount of new characters from what I`ve played :3
well cya!

update~
Ahhh
Some of you have seen my demo reel on youtube.
Thanks for the many comments
however that was NOt the final version-
you can watch the "complete and graded and hopefully will get me out of college"
version at my website- Kxela.com. Just follow the links. It's the first and bigger video in quick time format. If your connection is good it should play nicely and in Decent quality.
....oh.
well you've heard it now. I'm done with my demo.
All I have to do is make DVD's of it to send to companies and stuff I guess.
meaning I have more time to...OMG.. "draw"
Seriously, this last several months I'v been INKING every frame of my minute and a half
animation (counting....several hundred drawings)....
Literally Tracing all those drawings you've ALREADY drawn once? yeah it was a pain... but I got it done.
ANyways I've touched my sketchbook a few days ago for the first time in God knows when...
I've got a commission and drawings and *gasp* Comic pages I can finally get to again.
...But I'm guilty of wasting my time on other things.
Such as- Learning to play the guitar again. I never stuck to it long enough to get "good".
I took my first lessons in highschool- an elective class. Then took private lessons in Washington which only lasted three months cause I had to move.
And after we moved here... like a year ago some damn theives broke into our home and stole a bunch of stuff- including my electric guitar. ;_; .... I've never missed it so much. Luckily those fags decided one E-guitar and one Bass was enough, they didnt steal my poor acoustic guitar. Sigh, they looked good next to each other. But my Acoustic is my favorite. So I've been playing that everyday little bit by bit- guess that enough, within a week my fingers are starting to harden up :3 I sped through the guitar lesson books- I've learned a ton within this time frame.
........
but yeah, just a little.
...iwannabuyanotherelectricguitarlolololol
Watching K-On has nothing to do with this. <- lie
ahem anyways.
...
thats all.
I'll be opening commissions up again soon, so
if you want- start thinking of what.
k cya!

hey! wanna have your art in a NY gallery? + VN pro
APW gallery in New York is doing a "call for submissions" event
called "Sketch it out" Which is asking any and all artist around the world
to participate. Whats cool about this?- Sign up, and you're guarenteed 5 pieces
into the gallery for the event. ^^ I thought about it a bit then I was like,
"why shouldn't I?" It's a great chance to have your art seen, in a gallery no less o.o
Well the sign up price is $50 for 5 pieces max, the deadline is the 28th.
EDIT: You can also put your 5 pieces up to sell at the gallery too :D So your work wont just be for show ^^
go here for details:
http://apwarts.com/Callforsubmission.html
...there's actually a laundry list of contests I've built up to enter..wahhh
other news:
I have been working on a (kinetic) Visual Novel! I'm making "Can't just Add Water" (thats the short story I wrote, You've seen my Allison character in my gallery) in to a visual novel~ well, actually I'm almost done! Just a few more sprites to spice it up, couple back grounds and the CG's. i got all the coding and typing crap done ^^
If you're a good friend of mine I may share a WIP.... or I'll post some WIP images up soon.
I have 4 weeks left in the quarter, My demo is right about finished being animated. Once I finish that I'll post a rough animation video here or on youtube and then start on the inking and coloring and effects and whatever else.
XD
Oh, I'm going to megacon! Coming? Comment! See you there!!

Mizucon report
End of the year con, two days after Christmas, Mizucon was rather bland.
Sure I wasnt expecting anything amazing from a first time con but it was a bit disappointing, and the facts show they did a couple of things to achieve such a result.
1- date. Yeah, not the best time to have a con. THey thought otherwise according to their site. Plus it was a Sat-Mon con. I think that threw everyone off. They did it probably cause they didnt want to have the event right after Christmas, but I think it might have been better if they did.
2- THere was so little to do there. dealers room, 1 videogame room, 1 panel room, 1 main event room, 2 videorooms, and oh yesh, artist alley. Sounds alright, but the placement of them was a facepalm... They put the artist alley by the videorooms rather than the dealers room. And who exactly goes to the anime viewing rooms?- people who start to get bored, at least to me. The flow of people in the artist alley was terrible, there probably was less than 10 people max in the alley (who werent artists).
....that about wraps it up. I did just barely okay with the booth, no one asked for comissions but the new stuff sold a bit.
I forgot part of my costume on sunday so I didnt enter the contest. THough actually remembering the stress from the last con made me not want to enter in the first place. I was Student Lulu day 1, Zero day 2, and then Student Lulu with the cape and helmet on day 3. I didnt take pictures, but people did. I'll look for them.
The dealers room was pretty cool, not awesome, but they had some decent dealers (saw some friends) and had some nice sales. I got
a couple of import magazines and some fun toys, and 1 Kekkaishi manga.
I didnt even step in the game room.
Food there was typical, wasnt prepare Saturday.
IT was pretty disappointing, even Yasumicon which is free to attend was better than $35 weekend pass Mizucon.
But otherwise as I said I want expecting anything extra extravagant, I had fun seeing fellow friends and artists
After all thats what the point has become- to hang out...
though it could have been better.
Lets try harder next time Mizucon!
ON a brighter note, my next confirmed sorta con is Hatsume Fair
at the Morikami Museums in March. The best part is, I live like 10 minutes away from there. It sounds like its gonna be fun, Morikami's events are usually full of people, and having an anime portion sounds like a great idea.
time to get back to work.

at the Morikami Museums in March. The best part is, I live like 10 minutes away from there. It sounds like its gonna be fun, Morikami's events are usually full of people, and having an anime portion sounds like a great idea.
time to get back to work.

Pre-Mizucon weeekend Madness~
Heading off to Mizucon.
.
.
.
Tomorrow. o_o
Wait what itsnt it friday today?
Mizucon is from Dec 27-29. Thats a Saturday through monday schedule.
Talk about weird. I gotta work today to make up for getting off on monday then -3-
but I needs the money.
LOL I was all rushing this morning printing everything. Then I wrote down the date and was like ".....Dec 26?" then I ran to the postcard ad of mizucon I have on my bulletin board. "Dec 27-29" I just about fainted.
Well at least now I have everything about prepared, I can relax tomorrow morning and head out smoothly.
Speaking of which some weird things happened this morning.
I was at Kinkos and I wanted to get some of my arts printed for prints. Then the lady looks at my stuff and was like "did you download this/get this from somewhere" and then I said "I made it" and then even more she asks "is this your signature" on my works.
-3- I dunno whether to feel complimented or insulted. Either I've gotten good enough for people to think that my work looks like some other pros, or I've been accused of stealing art.
Well, she didnt really look like a Kinkos worker. She was in casual clothes and not in the usual uniform. No wonder she was a bit weird. Cause usually the dudes Kinkos just DO THEIR JOB and MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS instead of sticking their heads where it shouldnt go.
.
.
.
man, I sound pissed. Maybe cause its not con day today :<
oh well. after work I can spend the day making last minute new arts or play Mabinogi (the MMO by Nexon that I've been playing)

2008 closing

I've finished my classes for this year!! ^_^ WHich means I have only 2 quarters left til graduation. I took my print portfolio class this quarter, next quarter (actually, from now) I need to work on my demo reel.
I was complimented on my logo's graphic design. Because I made a nice logo all my presentational stuff like resumes, biz card came out nice. maybe I should look in to honing my graphics skills.
-3- Lost invisible update 2. 3 more pages til I switch back to NC. going smoothly I guess.
I got lotsa art I wanna make this winter break. Mizucon is right around the corner too. man even without school I'm buzy~
Looking for jobs. I dunno if I'm staying in the US or going to Japan after graduation. Japan sounds great, but I wonder about the pay from animation jobs. SUddenly...actually, I take that back. Man my student loans starting to hurt me X.x
If I can work in the US or here in FL for a little before going to Japan it might actually help my chances of getting hired over there. cause no one wants a fresh graduate without experience from another country? ...I'll have to find a job one place or another.
I bought Kakitorikun DS, a Kanji study game. waiting for it in the mail :3
well thats all for today I guess. Man I want more commissions.

Webcomic updation
-3- feeling a little better but still got coughs.
I updated Li today. For this sixth time this Year.
Man thats bad, 1 update a month, 6times for each comic.
where am I gonna go like that!?
Well as I posted I'm going to start update 5-5-5-5
meaning five Li pages, then 5 Nc pages, etc.
that way I'll have my mind on one story for long enough
before I switch instead of having to switch every page.
----
I've taken up using the nib/ink dip pen. It's pretty nice,
...well it comes out nice. Having to dip it every so often and
then needing to clean the pen before taking a rest is a bit
rough but its worth it. The Jerry's near our place sells manga
nibs, nib holders, comic ink, and that stuff, even copics :D <3
I have finals this-next week... for 3D dynamics, I've pretty much have about
70% of it done just gotta get the 30% of my scene done and spend a couple days
rendering. hope my computer holds up.
Mizucon is in few weeks! I need to do more fanart and make prints and buttonzzz X_x
